Sunday the 10th of April was our club's first competition. We knew we were taking a very strong team along, even though, apart from Eric, none had been doing Judo for more that 2 months and some as little as 3 weeks. Out of 25 competitors our medal tally was 6 Gold, 8 Silver and 11 bronze.
Judy Browne fought really well and collected the overall girl player of the day. There were some great displays from our players, but the fight for gold between Ross Denham and David Leyshon deserves a special mention along with Tom Conway's last fight when he was on the receiving end of a rather dubious refereeing decision robbing him of the gold medal. |
