This year Eric was the only competitor representing our club.

This fabulous competition saw 1377 competitors fighting from all over the UK, Europe, Israel and even as far as New Zealand.

Eric fought well but ended up losing the fight for the Bronze Medal. His highlight was the first fight on the mat where he beat his opponent in 2 seconds with a great Koshi- Goruma.

This was Eric's first big competition and hopefully he will learn from his mistakes in time for the next one. All in all it was a good result considering he had not trained for about 3 months.
Better luck next time!!!!

We are hoping to take a lot more players to this great competition next year which is currently fixed for the weekend of 11th and 12th February 2006 at Excel.

Sunday the 10th of April was our club's first competition. We knew we were taking a very strong team along, even though, apart from Eric, none had been doing Judo for more that 2 months and some as little as 3 weeks. Out of 25 competitors our medal tally was 6 Gold, 8 Silver and 11 bronze.

Judy Browne fought really well and collected the overall girl player of the day. There were some great displays from our players, but the fight for gold between Ross Denham and David Leyshon deserves a special mention along with Tom Conway's last fight when he was on the receiving end of a rather dubious refereeing decision robbing him of the gold medal.
